Hi, I’m Clare – the Parish Youth Minister for the Parishes of St. Maximilian Kolbe, Runcorn and St. Michael and All Angels, Woodchurch.
After teaching in Primary Schools for the past 10 years I was very excited to be appointed to this new role! About 12 years ago I started to volunteer in my Parish (St. Maximilian Kolbe) as a Children’s Liturgy Leader. A couple of years later I was asked to help with the youth group that was being started up. This led to me helping to prepare the young people for Confirmation too. In 2011 I joined the Diocese of Shrewsbury Pilgrimage to World Youth Day in Madrid. This was truly an amazing experience! Seeing so many young people join together and share their witness of faith was truly inspiring, from then on I wanted to do more for our youth and give them the same opportunities. A few years later, I became involved with planning and organising youth events in the diocese and also took a group from Shrewsbury to the World Youth Day in Krakow in 2016. All these experiences helped me grow in faith, in ways that I did not expect and really gave me a sense of the Church across the world not just locally.
Family is very important to me and I love spending time with my mum, brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephew and of course my extended family when we get together from across the country and further afield! I love to bake! I will look for any excuse…birthdays, Sunday lunch, parish events, cake sales or just some spare time! Music is another of my favourite things, I listen to various genres and also enjoy singing. One of my more expensive passions is travel – especially to places of pilgrimage. I have been lucky enough to visit the Holy Land, Rome and Assisi, Santiago de Compostela and many places here in England with my parish. I have also completed some walking pilgrimages, one in Northumberland and some of the Camino routes to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
I hope you enjoy finding out more about what I’m up to and what is going on in the parishes I work in.
