February already!

Well, January went by in a blur! It was my nephew’s birthday – he was 7 and my eldest niece was 12! It’s a cliche but it does only seem like I was cradling them in my arms yesterday. With January birthdays it becomes a bit of a dilemma of what to buy for them as Christmas has just been. But I found something for each…eventually! Of course, cake requests were made and filled too!

The year started with meeting my new line manager – Sandy Fairley, the new Director of Shrewsbury Youth Mission Team. We met, got to know each other and as he’d obviously seen my office space in Woodchurch, I showed him the Runcorn office space.

Plans were made in Woodchurch as I met with Fr. Chris to see what we can start doing to involve the young people. I met the volunteers again, we went through what is planned and had a chat about other various ideas and suggestions.

On the Feast of the Epiphany, some of the Faith in Action young people joined the Parish of St. Maximilian Kolbe for Christmas Carols and reflections – they helped by giving out hymn books, candles and read some of the prayers and reflections.

As the Senior Leadership Team in Runcorn we are working towards the next Alpha Course and also the Alpha Youth Series coming up in February – details on the Parish Website – http://www.saint-maximilian-kolbe.org/ so there has been lots of organising, promoting and training going on which I’ve been helping to run as Alpha is a Lay Lead initiative.

I joined Fr. Chris, Deacon John and Mrs. Ralph for the First Sacraments meeting at St. Michael’s School – it was lovely to meet the year 3 children wanting to take the next step on their faith journey. An exciting time for them all – please do keep them and their families in your prayers.

Mid-January saw our first Team Formation Day. Sandy, Dave, Sophie, Grace and I spent a day at Savio House where we had time to get to know each other a bit more, pray and reflect, individually and as a team. It was a great day and nice to take some time together.

The last full week of January was a busy meeting week – a diocesan Chaplains meeting, a Parish Council meeting and then meeting some of the young people in St. Chad’s who are interested in coming along to the Alpha Youth Series. They enjoyed thinking about some of the questions that they will be asked as part of the series and gave some great answers.

In Runcorn the Faith in Action group had a fun trip to Paradise Island in Cheshire Oaks to play some Crazy Golf. It was a great day and some very serious shots and games going on!

Lots of meetings ended January – team meets, a Senior Leadership Team (SLT) meeting and getting ready for the Divine Renovation Conference which I’ll be going to at the beginning of February with the SLT from St. Maximilian Kolbe.

Please keep me in your prayers – February is a big month for new things in both parishes!
