Where did January go?! It only seems 5 minutes since I was saying Happy New Year! Well, we’re truly into 2020 now.
It was an exciting start to January meeting the new SYMT members and spending some time as a team getting to know each other. We spent time in prayer, having some fun trying out some new games that we can use with our youth, being trained for various things and looking at what is coming up. On Friday of the first week, we went to Shrewsbury Cathedral. It was a lovely day. We met Bishop Mark, celebrated Mass with the Cathedral Parish, had lunch with the Bishop and the discerners, had a tour of the Cathedral and ended with a blessing and photo call with Bishop Mark.
The next week was another blur! I was down in London for ‘Experience Alpha’ it was a great few days! We heard about the history of Alpha, took part in an amazing staff meeting of all Alpha staff from Holy Trinity Brompton and picked up tips and reminders about running Alpha/Alpha Youth.
In between various meetings in Runcorn, Woodchurch and other places it’s been a whirlwind of a month! The young people in Birkenhead continued their preparation for Confirmation – which will be on 12th February, please keep them in prayer.
At the end of the month, it was time to have some fun with the young people at St. Michael’s. We played silly games for prizes, had pizza and sweets then started our journals for our Faith in Action Awards – we didn’t realise we had done so much! It was great to welcome some new young people too! (We were too busy having fun to take pictures of the games so I only got pictures of them journaling)
So January was a time of meeting new people, training, formation, meetings, Confirmation Preparation and fun with the youth! February….brings much more of the same! I can’t wait!!
